The time has FINALLY arrived – our inaugural trip. After spending NUMEROUS hours this week packing, unpacking, organizing, reorganizing, menu planning, grocery shopping (three trips!), redoing the menu again, a run to WallyWorld, and hooking up SS Big Girl (2015 Jayco White Hawk), its time to hit the road! As the clock struck 8:30 PM, we pulled her out of the storage barn. Yes, turning dark on a Friday night, we take our first trip. Yes, brilliant!
Our first trip was to Kayuta Lake Campground in Forestport, NY. Far enough to get a handle on maneuvering our yet close enough to have several family members join in for some R&R as well. Together, we have 6 kids. On this trip, we were joined by Kiddos #3 (+BF), #4, #5, & #6. Also Sparky’s baby brother and his #1. What an adventure! All the coming and going, eating and laughing. Yes, we made sure our camper was perfectly outfitted, perfectly parked and perfectly stocked but it was the fun we had that makes camping great. No, not great, but perfect for us. Camping is our perfect!
Even though we ended up staying at Kayuta Lake Campground less than 48 hours, when all was unpacked then repacked, it was a blast. Stories from growing up, catching up with our lives and remarking at how our brood is growing and changing, kept us going for hours. We went through more campfire wood that weekend then we did during the month of July!
Not only did we choose Kayuta Lake Campground because of the location for all our family, we chose this to be our first trip because of the campground and its owners. This campground is located in the southern region of the Adirondack Mountain Park. It is an easy drive – take the Utica Exit #31 on the Thruway, then drive 12 N. Their website has great directions. I like how they are written for the consumer, not just a link to GoogleMaps.
The clincher for including this site here is KLC A+ rating on www.GuestRated.com. Their 83+ reviews can be accessed HERE. When skimming the information provided by campers, there are several families who mentioned the multiple years they have camped here. The hosts, Mike and Karin have a great following. They are obviously passionate about KLC and your family.
